What is Acnigon ?
Acnigon is a unique new technology, and patented formula. The active ingredient is an organosilane quaternary ammonium compound.

It is very simple and comfortable to use, it is just applied to the skin, wetting the infected areas, and leave for a few seconds, until air dried. It forms a microscopic coating on the skin, and becomes substantive to it. It cannot be seen or felt.

Once it is applied to your skin it cannot be washed off and will not lose or have its effectiveness diminished after washing.

When dried on the skin, Acnigon is non toxic and chemically inert, so explaining the reason for no side effects.

How does Acnigon work ?
As Acnigon dries onto the skin it becomes a matrix or lattice on the surface and forms spikes or “swords” at the molecular level. The P.Acnes microbes are then electrostatically attracted onto these swords which kill them physically by effectively skewering and rupturing their outer cellular wall. This is a process called lysis.

When the membrane of the P.Acnes microbe is physically ruptured, Acnigon is not consumed and does not dissipate, nothing is transferred. The killing action is not depleted and Acnigon continues to control P.Acnes microbial growth over time with no loss of efficacy.

Acnigon is the environmentally friendly and user friendly acne treatment. No toxic chemicals means no worries and no side effects.

99% of traditional acne treatments contain highly toxic chemicals, such as benzoyl peroxide or salicyclic acid or the like.

The mode of action for these treatments is to chemically poison the Propionibacterium Acnes (P.Acnes) microbe. However, because of their toxicity they also have detrimental side effects on the skin resulting in redness, chapping, soreness and drying of the skin, rendering them unpleasant to use.

How long does Acnigon take to work ?
Some people see an improvement in their condition in 2 days, but for the majority it takes about 4-5 days. Also, regular use once your acne has disappeared will prevent its return.

Does Acnigon have any side effects at all ?
Once dry on the skin, Acnigon is non-toxic (to humans) and chemically inert. Thus it cannot possibly have any effects on your skin. Please see the Dermatest certificate on the "kind to skin" page.

Can Acnigon be used at any age?
The Dermatest panellists were aged 18 to 70 years. However, it is also perfectly safe to use on children over the age of 8 years. However, please always be sure to keep Acnigon away from the eyes (as with any product of this nature). Should it get into the eyes, rinse immediately with copious amounts of clean water.

Does Acnigon help to decrease blackheads, whiteheads and oily skin?
Yes Acnigon will help to remove blackheads and whiteheads. As it is not an oil or a cream, and as at the molecular level it allows your skin to breath (rather than clogging it up with grease like most acne treatments) it will reduce the oil content of your skin without drying it.

If I have rosacea will Acnigon help?
Yes, we are now receiving testimonials from customers confirming that Acnigon has helped their rosacea. However, it would appear from practice that two applications each day produce a better result. This is undergoing study currently and we will publish futher info in due course.

Does Acnigon work for people with light or dark complexions?
Acnigon works equally well on any skin tone or complexion. Please note that Acnigon does not cause any discolouration of skin in individuals with dark skin.

Acnigon needs TWO applications per day and is best applied to clean dry skin, and it has NO side effects.

Using a cotton pad, apply to the affected areas, thoroughly covering them and wetting them. Once you have applied it to your skin, allow it to naturally air dry, which will only take a moment or two.

Acnigon is equally effective on any skin area, face, chest or back.

(Take care not to let Acnigon get into your eyes. If it does flush them immediately with clean water).

You will not see any coating on your skin, or feel anything on it, but rest assured the Acnigon is there, and once air dryed it will attack the Propionibacterium acnes (P.Acnes) bacteria that are causing your infection.

Acnigon, once dry on your skin, will remain active for 12 hours.

As Acnigon works by attacking the P.Acnes microbes it obviously needs to be in contact with them, which is why it must be applied to clean dry skin.

The best routine is to apply it at night before going to bed, and after removing any make-up or skin creams, and to do this every night. Acnigon will not work if you apply it on top of make-up or any skin creams.

Repeat every 12 hours.

Washing during those 12 hours will not remove it or dilute its effectiveness.

Acnigon is non-staining, and will not discolour any clothing or bed linen it comes into contact with.

The active ingredient in Acnigon is a highly sophisticated quaternary ammonium chloride compound combined with a sylil base to enable it to be persistent on the skin. Please remember, you will not see or feel anything, as this is working at the molecular level. The other ingredients are highly purified deionised water, fragrance and ethyl alcohol.

Does Acnigon contain any harsh chemicals?
Acnigon does not contain any harsh chemicals such as benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid. It is a sad fact that Benzoyl peroxide, Salicylic acid and Sulphur are the active ingredient in over 99% of all acne treatments.

Benzoyl peroxide is proven to generate free radicals, damaging cellular DNA, causing serious premature aging and thinning of skin, and causing irritation to the skin with redness and chapping. Benzoyl peroxide will bleach fabric and hair, and studies have shown that 76% of benzoyl peroxide users acquired a contact sensitization to it.

Acnigon is very different from these old fashioned traditional products. It contains none of those harsh chemicals and when dry on the skin it is non toxic and chemically inert and so can have no detrimental effect on your skin.

Most other products work only for a short span of time, and you might need to re-apply the product several times a day. Acnigon is different, as its molecules keep on working for 24 hours, from a single application, even with regular washing.

Acnigon is safe to use and is non-allergenic, it gently moisturises your skin, preventing drying, redness, and chapping, and it smells light and fresh.
